How Important Is A Kickstarter Video?

Up your chances by including a compelling and informative Kickstarter video. We created one for ‘Narwhal Makes A Sandwich,’ and they surpassed their goal!

Back in 2015, speech language pathologist, Aryn Franklin approached Cerebral Expansion Productions, to help her team create a Kickstarter video. They needed funds to finish the remaining content and then publish their children’s book. Along with her partners Laura Addington and Tara Put they met with Alex Spence to discuss.

They definitely understood the importance that this video was going to make to their campaign’s success. They presented a few ideas of what they had in mind. Taking those ideas, Alex wrote a script and added a visual concept. Knowing their intended audience, they refined the script, to match their sensibilities.

What Our Kickstarter Video Needed To Be!

Kickstarter videos needed to be more charm and concept than highly produced and expensive. Our video needed to be charming on a budget. Something we in the business call, ‘Budgarming!’ It needed to be honest and instil a sense of who Aryn, Laura and Tara are with a cool, competent reassurance that says ‘common give me some money!’ And definitely not fun.

Using a DSLR and iPhone we wrangled up the youngins and started filming. Two half days later we shot everything we needed. A week later they had their very own Kickstarter video. A month later they had all the money they ever needed… to complete their project!

As a token of their gratitude they gave Alex a copy of their book once it had been pressed, which he treasures reading to his two kids. “THE BIGGEST SANDWICH THE ARTIC OCEAN HAS EVER SEEN!!!!!”
